This role is responsible for providing casework and case-management to families, children and young people who are at risk of further escalation within the Child Protection System.

Brighter futures provides services to families with at least once child aged under 9 years, or families expecting a baby, by providing intervention and support that will achieve long-term benefits for children.

This is a full time permanent where you will be a part of the Brighter Futures team based in Wyong.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide intensive casework and case management services to families within the child protection system who have been assessed as eligible for family preservation with a Safety and Risk Assessment (SARA) outcome of Safe or Safe with Plan and who are at risk of entry into OOHC
  • Practice in accordance with the Homebuilders Model, policies and procedures, the Domestic Violence Practice Framework, Family Finding and other evidence based practice models determined by the program with fidelity to the models you will be trained in
  • Provide planning support and structure for the safety of children and young people and immediately take appropriate action in line with agencies policies and relevant professional responsibilities where the safety of the child is paramount
  • Assess the crisis the family is facing and establish and intervention involving intensive home visiting, which ensures the safety of the child is paramount
  • Facilitate the development and implementation of case plans with families

About You:

  • Degree qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or a related Bachelor’s Degree with relevant casework and or clinical experience with at risk children and their families, or equivalent and relevant to the field of work
  • Willing to be trained in the Homebuilders Model, Uniting Domestic Violence Practice Framework and other evidence based models as determined necessary
  • The ability to assess and work with families in crisis and work in partnership with them to achieve their goals, using a variety of evidence based intervention strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and an ability to conduct risk and family assessments using strengths based approach
  • Experience in supporting Aboriginal families in providing culturally safe and sensitive interventions
  • Current NSW Working With Children’s check
