The union is seeking to employ a Social Media Officer based in its Sydney office, with extensive travel throughout New South Wales.
The position requires the ability to produce engaging, relevant content across the Union’s social media channels to tell the story of the USU and our diverse membership. You will be required to develop copy, photo, and video content. This will require building relationships with organisers, delegates, and members throughout the state who will trust you to tell their story in a compelling, positive way and amplify their voice in the chorus of our members’ stories. You will track, analyse, and report social media engagement to management team to help inform communication strategy decision making.
There will be substantial flexibility in how the 60% FTE is scheduled week to week, with the caveat that frequent travel commitments will regularly require two to three days of work to be contiguous. Candidates must be willing to travel out of Sydney a minimum of one week (3 days) per month, with an expectation of more frequent travel through the Newcastle to Wollongong corridor.
The Union’s selection process involves a range of pre-employment assessments, including referee checks and pre-employment medical screening. The medical screening consists of a functional assessment, audiometry test and psychosocial assessment. Full details are available upon request.
