About Research, Innovation and Commercialisation

Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) is a specialist team dedicated to enabling the University's research and enterprise mission working closely with our academics, professional colleagues, industry partners, funding agencies and government agencies.  We have a passion to see our academics and their collaboration partners succeed, achieve research excellence and translate their discoveries into real-world innovation and impact. RIC operates University-wide across all ten Faculties and Chancellery. 

About the role

As Animal Ethics Officer, you will serve as Secretary to at least one University Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) and support the operations of other University AECs as required. You will interpret and accurately apply general principles, University policies and legislation to individual matters and provide expert advice to support researchers and professional staff.

You will assist in the development and implementation of information resources and training programs related to animal ethics.

About you

Your experience in committee servicing and support enables you to provide high level advice to various client groups. You enjoy interpreting policies and regulatory requirements as well as liaising with students and staff at all levels. Your strengths are your excellent oral and written communication skills and your ability to distill important information from complex discussions. Your effective time management and ability to prepare engaging training material and information sessions set you apart from other candidates.

You will further have:

  • A degree, preferably in the sciences, with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise or broad knowledge in administrative fields; or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in committee servicing and support.
  • The ability to recognise possible points of concern or contention, and to assess how these can be most effectively handled, including the ability to exercise mature judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a changing and fast paced environment.
