The Role

As the Program and Advocacy Manager at UNICEF Australia, you will play a pivotal role in our Australian Programs team. Your key focus will be the establishment, delivery and ongoing management of priority projects corresponding to our efforts in Investing in the Early Years. You will have oversight of these thematic programs, manage relationships with partners and other stakeholders, identify and facilitate key advocacy opportunities, and communicate with supporters, funders, and the wider organisation. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of programs and initiatives related to our strategic pillar: Investing in the Early Years, ensuring cost effectiveness and impact for children.
  • Deliver on planning, consultation and advocacy regarding our National Birth Registration initiative
  • Build, deliver and advocate on our Family Inclusive Workplace policies Project, in line with UNICEF global’s campaign
  • Collaborate to strengthen development and growth of our Indi Kindi partnership to 2021 and beyond.
  • Shape an advocacy plan for Early Childhood Education and Care reform, while working with key partners in this space.
  • Develop, manage and lead relationships with partners and other key stakeholders
  • Monitor the domestic policy space, and act in advocate for greatest impact and influence
  • Discover and apply for potential funding opportunities from the government, leading and collaborating in the preparation of pitches and proposals.

Selection Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications – graduate or post graduate degree in a relevant field
  2. Demonstrated experience achieving social impact results through advocacy and partnerships
  3. Strong skills in partnership development and stakeholder management
  4. Experience in constructive, results focussed advocacy with Governments and other relevant groups
  5. Demonstrated track record of strategy development and execution, including the ability to be agile and adapt to emerging opportunities and challenges
  6. Specific knowledge of and of the Early Childhood Development sector will be well regarded
  7. Demonstrated experience in securing and managing funding partnerships will be well regarded
  8. Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to successfully represent and advocate on behalf of UA including in a cross cultural context;
  9. A commitment to the aims and values of UNICEF Australia

This position reports to the Director of Australian Programs and is a full time permanent position. The role requires occasional work outside of regular hours and possibly domestic travel. In the time of Covid-19, we are offering a work environment that prioritises flexibility, health and safety, including a balance between working from the office or home.

A competitive salary commensurate with the not for profit sector is offered together with the availability of sector-leading salary packaging to achieve an overall generous remuneration package.
