Hotham Mission is a not-for-profit organisation providing community support for people in and around North Melbourne, Flemington and Kensington. We deliver community development, intervention and capacity development programs empowering people to exercise agency over their lives.

Hotham Mission delivers support in close partnership with various community organisations, local service providers and schools in the North Melbourne, Flemington and Kensington areas.

We are seeking paid staff to work Wednesday 9am - 3pm and Thursday 9am - 3pm, helping to pack the food bags which we provide as part of our weekly food program. The job is open to all applicants, but please be aware the job is physically demanding and requires frequent lifting and carrying of food goods. The job will involve initial training/induction with the supervision and support of other paid staff.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and staff member to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in relationship building, public speaking, working with young women, networking and project planning.

Applicants must have/apply for a Working with Children Check, consent to Police check, be able to show their up to date Covid-19 vaccination certificate and follow Hotham Mission Code of Conduct and Covid-19 policies.

The position is entirely an office based position (North Melbourne) and there is no work from home component to this role. The role is paid based on the relevant award and is about 14 hours per week including administrative and preparation work. The hours are variable and serve as an estimation only. There is scope for program change and additional work on other programs in the future.

The role remunerated at: SCHADS award Level 1.3 with additional 25% causal loading and additional 10% superannuation payment.

The role would be well suited to uni students and/or those trying to gain experience in the non-profit sector.

It is very important that staff can regularly commit to both the Wednesday 9am - 3pm and Thursday 9am - 3pm shifts as this is when we sort, receive and pack our food hampers for vulnerable groups in the community.
