Senior Family Counsellor - Mackay

We are currently seeking to appoint a Senior Family Counsellor to work as a part of our UnitingCare Family Intervention Service Team based in Mackay for a fixed-term contract ending on 30th October 2020. We invite applications from candidates looking for Full Time or Part Time opportunities.

The Role:

You will provide leadership services for vulnerable children, young people and families within the Family Intervention Service (FIS), with emphasis on the effective supervision of staff to ensure the delivery of high quality, best practice service delivery.

About You:

You will need demonstrated skills and sound knowledge gained through experience working with children and families. Experience in the area of child protection is preferred but not essential. Sound knowledge of, therapeutic processes and practices, including the ability to analyse, evaluate and make objective judgments and recommendations.

Highly developed interpersonal and communication frameworks and practices, that are congruent with a strengths approach and demonstrated professional integrity, with respect to such matters as confidentiality and client interests. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively within a team; willingness to participate in shared on call/out of hours work responsibilities, and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to work in ways that are innovative, inclusive and culturally appropriate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse groups. Ability to work within the beliefs, mission, values and policies of UnitingCare Community and adhere to the provisions of the Workplace Health and Safety and other relevant Legislation as they apply to the region’s services.

In addition to the above you will also be required to have:

  1. A tertiary qualification (minimum Bachelor Degree) in a relevant human services field with relevant experience in previous roles; and where relevant registration with a nationally recognised professional body is desirable.
  2. Current QLD Driver Licence.
  3. Suitability Cared for Child Related Employment (Blue Card).
