Purpose:

The Member Services Manager is responsible for development and support of Member U3As and of the regional U3A structure.

The position reports to the Network President.  This position involves travel to regional locations as required. 

Key Duties:

  • Provide support and assistance to new, small and struggling U3As and coordinate Network support and interventions where appropriate.
  • Identify requirements for policies and other resources to assist Member U3As and contribute to development of these resources.
  • Manage the Building Community Engagement program, focused currently on the Western metropolitan area, providing support to those U3As involved in the program through governance improvement and targeting recruitment of diverse communities and managing evaluation of outcomes of the program.
  • Provide ongoing support to regional meetings of U3As and to their efficient running, their membership and meetings.
  • Facilitate, and support as required, the meetings and activities of the Combined Regions group.
  • Liaise with other Network staff to ensure a coherence and integration in services to Member U3As.
  • Develop and maintain management reporting requirements on these activities as required.
  • Assist with the development and documentation of Network business processes and implementation of effective case management.

  • Problem solving abilities – ability to engage with complex issues and identify opportunities and solutions.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.

Knowledge:

  • A good understanding of the U3A movement and the sector.
  • Understanding of general governance requirements.

Performance review:

There will be an annual review of performance by the Network President. 

What we can offer you 

  • This is a full-time position.  Remuneration will be in the range of $75,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation and on-costs, depending on experience and abilities 
  • Superannuation of 9.5 per cent  
  • Based in Queen Street, Melbourne, but working from home under current COVID-19 arrangements
  • Some working from home (post COVID-19) is optional by agreement; some travel to Member U3A sites and workshops will be required 
  • Contract for up to two years, subject to confirmation at the end of 12 months 
  • Probation for six months
