ABOUT US

The Water Well Project is a registered not-for-profit and health promotion charity founded in 2012 that aims to improve the health and wellbeing of migrants and individuals from refugee and asylum seeker background by improving their health literacy. Our vision is that all migrants and individuals from refugee and asylum seeker background achieve equitable access to healthcare.

The Water Well Project has delivered 182 health education sessions over the 2019-2020 financial year with the participation of over 400 healthcare professional volunteers. Since inception, we have delivered over 700 sessions to over 12,000 individuals. We were awarded the Melbourne Award (2018) for “Contribution to Multiculturalism” by a community organisation and a finalist for “Settlement Innovation” in the Australian Migration and Settlement Awards (2019). Our work is funded by philanthropic grants, government grants and private donations.

The Project Administrator is one of two paid positions at The Water Well Project. As a Project Administrator, you will be responsible for supporting the operations of The Water Well Project. Your role will be to provide effective and efficient administrative support through tasks such as: arranging health education sessions with community organisations, booking of healthcare professional volunteers and interpreters (where required), advertising health education sessions using various platforms, liaising with key stakeholders (internal and external), manage the feedback process and providing summary reports.

This is a part time role (30.4 hours/week until 31 March 2021 with a view to extension from March to November and a possible review of hours).  Remuneration is $25.62 per hour excluding super and entitlements. This position is ideally based in Melbourne, but we are flexible on location for the right candidate. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptable with ability to prioritise workflow and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to liaise with external stakeholders (primarily representatives of community-based organisations) and volunteer healthcare professionals to coordinate the delivery of health education sessions in the community.
  • Ability to manage the arrangement of health education sessions including:
    • Booking of volunteers and interpreters (where required)
    • Advertisement of health education sessions to volunteers using web-based and social media platforms
    • Managing online sessions and troubleshooting where required
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to maintain and ensure up-to-date record keeping in shared file management systems.
