About Us

The Water Well Project is a not-for-profit health promotion organisation based in Melbourne. Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers by improving health literacy. Our vision is that all individuals from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds achieve equitable access to healthcare to enable them to live full lives and contribute to the wider community.

We are a values-driven organisation that works collaboratively with a common purpose we are searching for a Communications and Marketing Officer to join our team at a Volunteering capacity.

Key Responsibilities

The Volunteer Communications and Marketing Officer supports the development of online content across multiple platforms to promote the work of The Water Well Project. The position enhances partnership opportunities, recruitment and retention of volunteers, supports fundraising and expands the reach of the organisation. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Drive any marketing initiatives required
  • Supporting the development of promotional materials for distribution to internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Liaising with the rest of the Comms & Marketing team to determine work priorities.
  • Liaising with the Management Committee to devise a communications and marketing strategy
  • Seek and manage media opportunities and associated events as appropriate.
  • Supporting the development and maintaining a promotional media kit, briefing notes and key message documents.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous marketing and social media experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of digital/ social media forums and tools.
  • (Preferable) previous Experience in communications, public relations and/or marketing
  • Ability to use own initiative to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with key stakeholders in the multicultural and/ or not-for-profit space.

Terms

The successful applicant should ideally be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months. Time commitment varies week on week but is expected to average between 2-4 hours per week.

Conditions

All Management Committee volunteers are required to comply with The Water Well Project Volunteer Agreement and agree to work according to our values.
