Twenty10 inc. GLCS NSW has two Board Director vacancies and is looking to appoint. Industry experience in urban development or the homelessness sector is desirable.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for individuals who are passionate about our work with LGBTIQA+ communities including young people.

We are actively looking to increase the diversity on our Board to reflect the diversity of the communities with which we work. We are particularly interested in working with First Nations people, people from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, people with disability, neurodivergent people , and LGBTIQA+ individuals including those who are trans and gender diverse and individuals with intersex variations.

Board Members are encouraged to have achieved leadership stature in relevant services, government, philanthropy, or the not-for-profit sector.

The role requires attending approximately 10 Board Meetings a year and membership on at least one of the Board’s sub-committees. It is expected that Board Members attend a number of organisation related events each year.

Our Purpose

To engage, empower and improve the lives of people of diverse genders, sexualities and intersex variations and (LGBTIQA+) communities. Through:

  • Housing, counselling, mental health and social support services for young people (ages 12 - 25).
  • Web-based, and phone support for people of all ages.
  • Social support for adults.
  • Early intervention, referral services, community engagement, education and capacity building.

Organisation Context

We are a Sydney based service working across New South Wales, providing a broad range of specialised services for young people aged 12-25 including housing, mental health, counselling and social support. For adults we provide social support and for people of all ages we offer telephone support and webchat as the NSW provider for the national QLife project. We also offer inclusivity training and consulting for organisations and service providers across most sectors.

Desirable

  • The ability to think strategically and identify and critically assess strategic opportunities and threats and develop effective strategies in the context of the strategic objectives of Twenty10 inc. GLCS NSW and relevant state /national policies.
  • The ability to identify key risks for the organisation in a wide range of areas including legal and regulatory compliance, and monitor risk and compliance management frameworks and systems
  • Industry knowledge and experience in Urban Development and Housing or the Homelessness sector (or in similar organisation or industries).
  • Commercial or business experience preferably in the small to medium enterprise context, in areas including communications; and business systems, practices and improvement.
  • Knowledge of non-executive Director’s responsibilities including legal, ethical, fiduciary and financial responsibilities.
  • Risk management experience as evidenced by ability to understand the core concepts of risk recognition, risk tolerance and risk mitigation as related to an organisation of Twenty10’s size and industry.
