The Youth Outreach Service (YOS) HHAT is a program that exists to assist youth who are at risk of homelessness to build sustainability and independence in tenanting accommodation. HHAT does this through supporting youth already in tenancies to build life and tenancy skills. HHAT also assist youth who have medium complexity to find and tenant through either 1 bedroom supported accommodation or through head leasing within the rental market for those youth able to share a tenancy with other youth.
The primary goals of YOS HHAT is to build tenancy capacity into the sector for youth while also building sustainability into the youth and their tenancies. The YOS HHAT team is part of The Salvation Army Youth Outreach Service. The overall goals of YOS is to work with young people to overcome adversity and build independence through engagement and targeted education and social interventions. Besides a focus on tenancy capacity and entertainment for at risk youth, YOS also supports youth with education support through our independent schools. We use the national educational curriculum, education would include social, emotional and living skills, and spiritual education.
