The Salvation Army Youth Service - Townsville operates an 8 bed youth residential service for young people over the age of 16 and a youth and young adults recovery outreach service for those seeking recovery from addiction to alcohol, other drugs and gambling.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Youth Case Worker to welcome clients and to work in collaboration with them by providing support and case management to a range young people (aged 14 through to 25) with drug and alcohol issues, their families and carers in the Townsville area.

You will ensure all activities provide quality care under a case management framework and in accordance with established procedures and in a culturally safe and appropriate manner. This role will deliver appropriate drug and alcohol interventions, education and support and assessment and referral services in accordance with the TSA guidelines with the purpose of enhancing services to the community and supporting the achievement of the mission of TSA.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this position is located in Townsville.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a full time position, 38 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 4.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Tertiary qualifications in Alcohol and Other Drug Work or a related field or a minimum of Diploma Qualifications in Community services,
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Experience in Case Management, ideally in a drug and alcohol service delivery environment
  • Experience in delivering educational presentations on alcohol and drug issues and providing group work and one to one discussion and support
  • Understanding of the range of issues faced by Indigenous Youth experiencing addictions to alcohol and drugs
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
