The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

The Tenancy Plus Program operates within the State Social Command Victoria of The Salvation Army Australia Territory (TSA). The Tenancy Plus Program is part of The Western Metro Homelessness Service, situated in Sunshine. Tenancy Plus is a government funded program aimed specifically to provide support, assessments and referrals to Social Housing tenants with the aim of establishing, sustaining and maintaining successful tenancies.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a values-driven Tenancy Plus Support Worker to provide direct service delivery to at-risk social housing tenants to prevent tenants becoming homeless and to establish and maintain social housing tenancies for those who reside in the Brimbank, Melton and Wyndham Local Government Areas.. Other client key accountability areas include:

  • Tenants have increased awareness of the range of services and supports available to assist them to maintain appropriate accommodation
  • Tenants have increased self-efficacy and personal action through being able to seek supports and assistance when they are required
  • Tenants will be in secure, sustainable, stable long-term accommodation (ie longer than six months)
  • Tenants will be self-reliant and able to access services as required through self- referral
  • New public housing tenancies are well established and linked to appropriate supports

Reporting to the Support Services Coordinator, this position is located in Sunshine

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent part time position, 22.8 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 5.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Demonstrates knowledge of homelessness including context, causes, issues, philosophies and legislation
  • Understands and applies homelessness models, approaches, theories and practices when dealing with clients
  • Ability to understand and respond to the needs of individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness
  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work or related community service field
  • Experienced with working with Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities
  • Experience in managing staff and providing supervision
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Valid VIC Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
