The Doorways program is a network of programs and related services which aim to assist vulnerable and marginalised members of society in times of crisis and then through service delivery models assist them to make positive change in their lives. Services include (overview of programs/services).

Doorways aims to use a holistic approach when dealing with members of the community and their individual needs. This is done through both our initial client contact through Emergency Relief and then assessed and referred to other services both internally and externally such as case work, financial counselling, housing supports and mental health services etc.

It is expected that all members of the team actively seek to foster Corps/Doorways integration in accordance with the mission and values of The Salvation Army.

THE ROLE

This position leads a team of Doorways workers which may include case managers, support workers, students and volunteers.

Responsibilities include:

  • To lead an effective and high functioning team of paid workers and volunteers to deliver support services to vulnerable and marginalised members of the community across both sites.
  • To ensure service delivery targets are achieved and funding body requirements are met
  • To operationalise the decisions and strategy set by the Regional Manager / State Manager
  • To ensure the site is managed as directed by the Regional Manager / State Manager in consultation with the Corps Officer
  • Centre resources including staffing are allocated and used appropriately in line with requirements of both TSA and relevant funding bodies.
  • A small client case load is carried where required in peak periods or during staff absences
  • A collaborative approach to service delivery and improvement is demonstrated within the team
  • Capability development plans are implemented for the team to improve capability and service delivery
  • Ensuring the centre is adequately staffed

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent part time position, 20 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 5.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Tertiary qualification in social work, community services or related field, a degree qualification is preferred
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment including experience in supervising staff
  • Knowledge of the theory and effects of structural disadvantage
  • Children and Families-Knowledge and application of child protection principles, policies, legislation, governing bodies and reporting protocols
  • Knowledge of lifestyle pressures faced by disadvantaged people in the community
  • Knowledge of general models of intervention in social work
  • A current SA Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
