The Salvation Army - Samaritan Women and Children Services (SWACS) provides support programs and accommodation options to promote the safety of women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence and / or complex trauma in childhood. We offer opportunities for women and their children to explore their options to transition into independent housing while allowing them time and a safe space to work through their trauma. Case management provided includes but is not limited to immigration and visa support, education and training, program delivery and community connection. SWACS works to re-establish choice, self-worth and confidence in a trauma informed environment, empowering people to move forward in their lives and make positive choices.

THE ROLE

Management and oversight of the case management team, joint working partnerships and community housing providers to ensure that a child focused, strength-based trauma informed practice is in place and in line with organisational policies and local, state and federal governance and funding agreements. Effectively working with program manager, senior practitioner and family specialist to ensure service delivery meets service user needs and allows team culture outcomes to be high.

Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that best practice case management tasks are in place and governance is adhered to;
  • In conjunction with program manager, senior practitioner and family specialist continue to build and evolve family violence programs in line with need;
  • Build program capability, knowledge and staff capacity through participation in relevant networks
  • Building and maintaining relevant professional relationships and partnerships as required to work collaboratively within the leadership team to lead during times of change and provide a responsive delivery of specialist support to clients
  • Provide supervision, support and direction to the team and be able to demonstrate experience in effectively dealing and resolving challenging behaviours
  • Have capability to continuously move toward, design and implement future goal directions to ensure we provide a quality service to our consumers

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Degree or qualification in Social Work, Social Science, Welfare Work or Industry equivalent
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Philosophy and Power Threat Meaning frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a case management team or service, homelessness sector leadership and high knowledge of the issues affecting children and women who are escaping family violence
  • High level of experience delivering family violence and/or homelessness casework outcomes, excellent client engagement and assessment skills.
  • Experience in liaison and communication skills, including the ability to consult and negotiate with relevant agencies in the service sector and the general public
  • Experience and demonstrated competence maintaining comprehensive and accurate Program and client records
  • Computer literacy with experience in Email, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and client management systems
  • Working with Children Check
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster and occasional weekend work
  • Mandatory National Police Check
  • Full NSW Drivers Licence

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a full-time position, 38 hours per week ongoing.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 3 (Crisis).
