The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children's and parenting services, counselling, support, men's programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence

The Support and Safety Hub, also known as The Orange Door (the Hub) provides support and assistance to women and children affected by Family Violence who are leaving violent and abusive relationships.

The Hub incorporates Family Violence and Child Wellbeing services and provide services for women, children, young people and older people experiencing family violence, and families in need of support with the care, wellbeing and development of children and young people. The Hub will also plan interventions for perpetrators that hold them to account, address the risk they pose and challenge their violence and abusive behaviour.

THE ROLE

The Hub Practitioner in the Family Violence Intake Services require highly developed skills in engaging and responding to women and families experiencing Family Violence. Hub Practitioner's must be able to work collaboratively with clients to empower them to identify and achieve their goals, whilst maintaining clear boundaries relating to their role.

Clients are assisted using a strength-based, trauma informed approach to identify goals to empower them to work towards achieving positive outcomes.

Reporting to the Team Leader Support and Safety Hub, this position is based in Morwell, location may vary between Morwell, Morwell/Warragul.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent full time position, 38 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 6

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • A sound knowledge of the Family and Domestic Violence frameworks and service system, including the Royal Commission into Family Violence, the MARAM Framework and the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme and Children's Information Sharing Schemes
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in social work, community services, youth work, psychology or community development -diploma level (minimum)
  • Relevant experience in a social service environment
  • Experience working with clients with complex needs and multiple vulnerabilities
  • Well rounded understanding of Family Violence drivers, risk assessment and safety planning
  • Experience working with families and children experiencing complex needs and risk issues in any of the following services areas: Family Services, Child Protection, Housing, Family Violence, Disability, Mental Health and/or Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct comprehensive safety and wellbeing assessments and work within the 'Best Interests Principles' as outlined within the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005
  • Understanding of service provision in a rural environment
  • Sound knowledge and experience working within theories including systems, trauma informed, Family Violence and strengths-based
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
