The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children's and parenting services, counselling, support, men's programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.

Support and Safety Hubs (The Orange Door) have been created as a recommendation from The Royal Commission into Family Violence and Roadmap for Reform. They have been designed to ensure that women and children are safe from harm and families can easily access the supports they need.

The Orange Door incorporates Family Violence and Child Wellbeing services and provide services for women, children, young people and older people experiencing family violence, and families in need of support with the care, wellbeing and development of children and young people. The Orange Door also plan interventions for perpetrators that hold them to account, address the risk they pose and challenge their violence and abusive behaviour.

The Orange Door brings together different workforces and practices to create an integrated Hub team and a consolidated intake point in Inner Gippsland Area to create a new ways of support for:

  • women, children, young people and families experiencing family violence
  • perpetrators of family violence
  • families in need of support with the care, development and well-being of children

The Orange Door - Inner Gippsland includes a mix of staff employed by Family Safety Victoria and staff employed by Community Service Organisations, Aboriginal services and DHHS, including VACCA, Ramahyuck, Anglicare Victoria, Quantum Support Services and Latrobe Community Health Services.

The Salvation Army along with Latrobe Community Health Service provide the Men's Perpetrator Services, intake service which provides support and assistance to male perpetrators who use violence.

The Support and Safety Hub Practitioner Men's Perpetrator Services (MPS) will:

  • Actively support in the delivery of Support and Safety Hub services (The Orange Door - Inner Gippsland).
  • Provide timely and active telephone responses to men referred for using violence and controlling behaviour against women and children
  • Through the intake service provide access to information for men on family violence and the effects of family violence on women and children
  • Work with male perpetrators of family violence with the aim of holding them to account for their actions and assist them to make sustained changes in behaviour
  • Make appropriate referral to Men's Behaviour Change programs and other men's services, or community services as required, taking a holistic view of the needs of the man to minimise the risk of the perpetration of Family Violence.

The Support and Safety Hub Practitioner - MPS requires highly developed skills in engaging and responding to male perpetrators of Family Violence. Hub Practitioner's must be able to work collaboratively to engage clients,, whilst maintaining clear boundaries relating to their role.

  • Two positions available. Location negotiable; Leongatha, Wonthaggi, Warragul, Morwell
  • These positions are full time, fixed term for 12 months
  • This position reports into the Team Leader, Support and Safety Hub
  • The incumbent may be required to outreach across the Inner Gippsland area
  • Initial operating hours for the Support and Safety Hub will be 9.00 - 5.00 pm Mon - Fri with the likelihood of service hours being made flexible and requests for overtime.
  • Working with Children's Check and drivers license required.
