The Salvation Army - Samaritan Women and Children Services (SWACS) provides support programs and accommodation options to promote the safety of women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence and / or complex trauma in childhood. We offer opportunities for women and their children to explore their options to transition into independent housing while allowing them time and a safe space to work through their trauma. Case management provided includes but is not limited to immigration and visa support, education and training, program delivery and community connection. SWACS works to re-establish choice, self-worth and confidence in a trauma informed environment, empowering people to move forward in their lives and make positive choices.

THE ROLE

As the Senior Practitioner you will supervise and participate in the delivery of the child focused practice delivery by the family support team, working closely with the Program Manager, Team Leader and the Family Support Practitioner. This will include assisting family support team to provide assistance to clients in the family violence programs and to ensure a quality trauma informed, child focused and client-centred approach to service delivery to assist families in moving toward independence and building strong connections within the community to enhance lives.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Minimum two (2) years case management experience
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in supervising and coaching teams
  • Understanding of Trauma Informed Care philosophy and Power Threat Meaning frameworks and what that looks like in practice
  • An understanding of the issues faced by people leaving family violence and / or experiencing homelessness in particular children
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, social work or related fields
  • Current Drivers Licence, First Aid Certificate and Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster and occasional weekend work
  • Mandatory National Police Check

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a full-time position, 38 hours per week ongoing.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 3 (Crisis).
