About the role

We are seeking to appoint a Schools Engagement Manager on a full-time permanent basis to join the Schools Engagement Team.

The primary responsibility of the roles is to deliver a range of workshops and resources to schools regarding social justice and the work of The Salvation Army, to empower and encourage students and communities to get involved in community service and gain a greater understanding of issues facing thousands of Australians every day.

The successful applicant will be a confident and passionate social justice advocate with exceptional youth facilitation skills. They will naturally build rapport and maintain meaningful relationships with schools and other stakeholders. Preferably you will possess tertiary qualifications in education, youth work, community development and/or other related fields.

Specifically, the incumbent must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Develop and implement a school's educational program to build awareness and understanding of TSA mission and social justice and advocacy issues
  • Oversee and facilitate the 'Beyond the Classroom' program, to deliver interactive workshops, facilities tour and involvement in the Red Shield & Christmas appeals
  • Ability to advocate for and positively represent the organisation in forums including public speaking and written communications
  • Contribute to content development and influence social justice education programs
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in engaging with young people
  • Sound knowledge of social justice challenges
  • High standard of report writing and proficiency in formal presentation skills
