The Salvation Army Youth Services offer an integrated suite of programs engaging with young people across Australia. Our services create intentional avenues for young people to explore opportunities, build support networks, and access, participate and contribute to their communities. Youth services provide a diverse range of programs which include housing and homelessness, driver training, education, employment and training, AOD support, social and community activities, specialist therapeutic responses and youth justice programs.

Oasis Youth Services is based in the Hunter region of NSW, delivering a range of programs and services for young people aged 12-25 to support their journey to independence. Key program areas for Oasis include drug and alcohol support, vocational training, school programs and driver training.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a permanent part time School & Groups Facilitator to work within our youth services team. This multi-disciplinary team provide a range of support to young people and their families who are affected by drug and/or alcohol use.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Facilitate early intervention programs and workshops with young people
  • Review and develop early intervention programs & workshops for young people aged 12-18
  • Liaise with schools and youth services to identify emerging program needs
  • Develop strong connections and partnerships with high schools and youth services and actively promote programs
  • Develop high quality program collateral & promotional materials

This is a part time position (3 days). It is based in Hamilton, NSW and involves some travel within Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter region.

The role is graded as SCHADS level 3 and salary range is $31.75 - $34.04 per hour.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and mission of The Salvation Army
  • Tertiary qualifications in AOD, youth work or a related discipline
  • Experience facilitating groups or workshops for young people
  • Experience working with people experiencing drug and alcohol issues
  • Experience developing youth program materials (desirable)
  • Current Working with Children Children
