The Recovery Employment Service seeks to achieve these outcomes:

  • Design and implement effective employment service support for people recovering from drug and or alcohol dependence / misuse, within existing recovery services;
  • Following testing, extend these services across all Victorian AOD expressions through close collaboration with partners, staff and volunteers.
  • Improve the overall experience and wellbeing of our AOD clients;
  • Trial innovative, holistic, local mission initiatives that utilise the full resources of different TSA specialist services;
  • Identify and respond to the needs of clients through ongoing feedback, review and continuous improvement; Open and improve referral streams between AOD rehabilitation programs and EPlus employment services (primarily DES).

THE ROLE

The aim of the Recovery Employment Consultant is to:

  • Provide general information about job search and employment services, and how to navigate the employment service system, to clients whilst nurturing ambition
  • Identify participants in TSA AOD programs who may be interested in further support to find and secure employment; Engage these participants through workshops and activities offered during residential and non-residential programs
  • Connect these participants (if requested) with The Salvation Army Employment Plus (EPlus) employment services during or after the completion of residential and non-residential programs for ongoing support and outreach to find a job
  • Develop an effective means for referring EPlus clients to AOD services where appropriate; and
  • Assist in the continual development and review of the program

Reporting to the AOD Program Coordinator / AOD Assistant State Manager, VIC this position is located in Ringwood.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a part time position, 22.5 hours per week fixed term for 12 months.
Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, level 5.

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE

  • Diploma in Community Services (AOD), or equivalent. (minimum). If foundational qualifications not in AOD, Certificate IV or Minimum Qualifications Skill Set in AOD work, as per the DHHS Minimum Qualifications Strategy (or able to complete within the first 12 months of employment)
  • Experience working in the AOD sector is essential.
  • Experience working in the employment sector is desirable
  • Successful program management/coordination experience in a similar context, including management of caseload, maintenance of client records, program budget and liaison with community stakeholders
  • Experience in frontline employment service delivery with CALD job seekers with complex barriers to employment, including delivery of both group activities and individual coaching / case management
  • Demonstrated success achieving placement and outcome goals in a government regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively; find innovative solutions to complex social and employment problems.
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
