The Salvation Army offers the opportunity to use your professional skills and expertise to make a real difference in the lives of people who need help most.
The Salvation Army Australia provides unique support services to people who have experienced modern slavery; including trafficking, forced labour, servitude, sexual exploitation and forced marriage.
Drawing on its Lived Experience Participation Framework and experience providing the Freedom Advocates program, The Salvation Army will deliver a lived experience engagement program for survivors of modern slavery to use their expertise to provide feedback and advice to Government.
The Program Coordinator will ensure that the voices of people with lived experience of modern slavery in Australia are front and centre of the Government's roll-out of the National Action Plan to Combat Modern Slavery 2020-2025.
The Program Coordinator will create a best practice framework to ensure survivor engagement is effective and ethical and work closely with survivors, facilitating necessary professional development, support and debriefing throughout their participation. The Program Coordinator will liaise with Government and other stakeholders to arrange consultative meetings and create survivor-led written feedback. The Program Coordinator will report to the Trafficking and Slavery Safe House Program Manager.
This is a part-time (2-3 days per week) fixed-term position based in Sydney until 31 July 2023. There is flexibility to work from both home and the office based on program needs.
We strongly encourage applications from people who have used their lived experiences to inform and create change. We also strongly encourage applications from people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, as cultural diversity reflects the people we serve.
