We are currently seeking a Lifestyle Coordinator to work at our Woodport Aged Care Centre in Erina NSW 2250. The Centre is located on the picturesque Central Coast, the Centre is just minutes away from the Erina Fair shopping centre, Gosford City, Terrigal beach, public transport and local services.

Offering all levels of care including short term respite care, it is a lively centre with a strong sense of community, clean fresh rooms and extensive lifestyle programs to cater to a range of individual preferences. This is a permanent full time role, working for 38 hours per week.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In the role of Lifestyle Coordinator you will be responsible for developing, supporting and coordinating recreation programs for residents working towards emotional and physical maintenance through recreational and craft activities that promote psychological, social and physical well being.

The Lifestyle Coordinator will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team in providing residents with quality care, actively trying to maintain the skill level, independence and mobility of individual residents. The activities for residents are designed to support, challenge and enhance the psychological, spiritual, social, emotional and physical well being of individuals.

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and implement a diverse range of recreational activities for residents that meet their individual needs, including group, small group and individual activities.
  • Facilitate resident involvement and engagement in the planning of programs
  • Designing activities with consideration of the residents culture, history, likes and preferences
  • Motivate and encourage resident involvement in the advertised program
  • Continuously assess the recreational needs of residents.
  • Assist residents with their recreational needs in a way that respects their dignity and privacy.
  • Actively monitor and record changes in residents care plans.
  • Maintain regular contact with care team and communicate with other staff.
  • Maintain professional standards in all interactions.

About You

To be considered for this important role, you must have:

  • An understanding, empathy, appreciation and ability to promote the values and Christian ethos of The Salvation Army
  • Certificate III in Aged Care Work
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Demonstrated knowledge of aged care needs and recreational aids for elderly people.
  • Proven ability to monitor and review recreational needs of the elderly
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills include MS office package
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team Commitment to Continuous Improvement

Desirable requirements, qualifications and experience:

  • Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle
  • Experience in the Aged Care Sector as a Recreation Activities Coordinator or as a Care Service Employee
