The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person-centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support all cohorts in case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

Our philosophy is that every person deserves dignity, respect and quality of service and that no one should be without a safe, affordable and secure home. Services are free, voluntary, accredited and delivered by professional and committed staff.

We are seeking a values-driven and dedicated Kitchen Hand to be responsible for the cleanliness of all catering related equipment and flatware including all washing areas at Foster House.

This is a permanent part-time 22 hours per week, based in Surry Hills.

You will successfully

  • Adhere to all cleaning, food preparation, presentation and food service procedures and standards
  • Ensure smooth running of the back of house and dining room areas at Foster House
  • Complete all preparation of food in accordance with procedures within the allocated time frames
  • Participates in team activities, attends staff meetings when scheduled

The Salvation Army is subject to public health orders. You may be required to provide evidence of vaccine status dependent on requirements.

You will have

  • Undertaken food hygiene training
  • Worked in a team environment and is a team player with energy, flexibility and integrity
  • Good attention to detail and sound time management skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under conflicting time pressures
  • Previous kitchen hand experience would be advantageous
  • A valid Employee Working with Children Check
  • A willingness to undergo a National Police Check
