We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Support Worker to welcome clients and to work in collaboration with them by providing intake, implementing and reviewing case plans

The Salvation Army Australia's Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

Specialist Homelessness Services operates within the National Homelessness Stream of The Salvation Army (TSA) and is situated across multiple sites within the Barwon Region.

The Salvation Army Homelessness Barwon works collaboratively with other specialist homelessness services, Department of Health and Human Services, Barwon Health, Department of Health, TSA Corps, Peak Bodies and other service and allied health providers.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Support Worker to welcome clients and to work in collaboration with them by providing intake, implementing and reviewing case plans. Other key responsibilities include:

  • Assessment of client needs for intake and the provision of information and referral when needed
  • Managing and assessing the risk of inter relationships within environment, de-escalation of situations
  • Progress and outcomes of case plans are monitored and clearly communicated to relevant staff for handover
  • Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation
  • Provide and offer clients suitable housing that will enhance their ability to work towards their goals
  • Answer telephone enquiries about TSA Homelessness Barwon service delivery

Reporting to the Support Services Team Leader this position is located at Myers Street, Geelong however may be required to work at other sites within the region.

This position will be providing backfill over the Christmas and New Year period.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a casual position potentially working up to 5 days per week over Christmas/New Year period. Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 4.

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Post-Secondary qualification in (specify relevant field e.g. social work, welfare, community development) or related field (a Diploma level qualification is preferred), or demonstrated equivalent experience, knowledge and skills
  • Experience and resilience in working with complex clients presenting with challenging behaviours
  • Ability to encourage and cooperate with others to achieve common goals
  • Acknowledgement and responsiveness to diversity of experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
