The Salvation Army - Samaritan Women and Children Services (SWACS) provides support programs and accommodation options to promote the safety of women and children who have experienced domestic and family violence and / or complex trauma in childhood. We offer opportunities for women and their children to explore their options to transition into independent housing while allowing them time and a safe space to work through their trauma. Case management provided includes but is not limited to immigration and visa support, education and training, program delivery and community connection. SWACS works to re-establish choice, self-worth and confidence in a trauma informed environment, empowering people to move forward in their lives and make positive choices.

THE ROLE

As the Early Intervention Case Manager, you will integrate focused case management support for children and families to ensure social, educational, emotional and development support is in place for victim-survivors of family violence to remain in their homes safely or be assessed and transferred to be rapidly rehoused. Working in collaboration with family violence services, Safer in the Home and Staying Home Leaving Violence Projects to reduce the risk of homelessness and the trauma of relocating and to reduce the risk of child protection interventions. This role would support children and families who are at risk of experiencing homelessness to be assessed for appropriate options around remaining in their current housing option or moving to a safer more appropriate accommodation option with support.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Experience working within a Child Focused Practice in particular within a rapid re-housing project or early intervention role
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and / or previous experience with Early Intervention work in particular work that has included an early childhood focus
  • Community Engagement experience in an outreach capacity or with a social housing provider
  • Bilingual / community language would be desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated understanding of the issues that are faced by vulnerable individuals in particular children and their families who are leaving family violence
  • Current Working with Children Check
  • Permission to seek a Mandatory National Police Check
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster and occasional weekend work
  • Full NSW Drivers Licence

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a full-time position, 38 hours per week ongoing.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Level 2 (Crisis).
