Carinya Women and Children Services will work as one team with a person-centred, safe and coordinated approach to service delivery to ensure the best outcome for all who seek our assistance. To assess, refer and ascertain level of support required and to provide case management support to women and families experiencing domestic and family abuse and experiencing homelessness to achieve housing stability, improve social inclusion and be equipped for participation in the wider community. The position will undertake activities to achieve outcomes using a case management framework, which includes crisis as well as outreach and transitional support to provide a comprehensive client centred service within the values and mission of The Salvation Army.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Assessment & Case Management Services

  • To offer appropriate and high-quality support to individuals that are currently experiencing family and domestic abuse or at risk of homelessness in a client centred case management framework including relationship building through motivational interviewing techniques, development of community support, advocacy / upholding of client rights, ability to listen and develop goals with residents and review of case plans as per service guidelines
  • Effective management of case load as allocated by the program manager or manager
  • Comprehensive assessments completed via telephone or face to face to determine suitability for intake or ascertain appropriate support as per the four response methods guidelines (crisis/transitional response, rapid re-housing response, early intervention and prevention response or intense support only response).
  • Ensure service orientation is conducted for all persons accepted as clients
  • Adherence to KPI's provided to case managers for the service and in line with organisational policy and processes
  • Other ad-hoc duties as requested by program manager
  • Assist in duties associated with the running of a residential service.
  • Availability of staffing in rotation of after hours on-call support

ABOUT YOU

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of TSA;
  • Experience in Trauma Informed Care and Power threat meaning philosophy and approaches are desired
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in case management role
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the community services sector in NSW with a specific emphasis on
  • family/domestic violence and homelessness - inclusive of issues, trends, resources and services
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships with key service providers
  • Experience working with people from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Tertiary qualifications (min. Diploma) in Community Services, Social Work or related disciplines
  • Current NSW Driver's license and Current Senior First Aid certificate
  • Strong administrative and time management skills. Ability to work well under pressure, independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Criminal history checks and Working with children checks in place;
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and evaluation skills especially in terms of risk of harm or risk to resident
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal communication, including advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service and continuous improvement strategies
  • Energetic and flexible with a positive attitude
  • Ability to critically reflect on professional practice and attitudes
  • Solid level of computer literacy (MS Office, Outlook, CIMS and SAMIS systems)
