Aspire Dance is a weekly hip-hop dance program run by Oasis Youth Services at Wyong, providing free dance classes to young people aged 12-18 in a safe & supportive environment. Aspire aims to empower young people with creativity, confidence and leadership.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Dance teaching - Facilitate the dance component of the Aspire Dance program for students aged 12-18, run weekly on Monday afternoons.
  • Choreography & planning - Responsibility to plan and prepare original choreography suitable for beginner-intermediate levels for students aged 12-18
  • WHS - Responsibility for ensuring that Aspire Dance program and young people comply with workplace health and safety obligations in line with TSA policy & procedures and relevant legislation
  • Team Support - Participate in team activities, attends staff meetings when scheduled and demonstrates a supportive approach to other staff members which contributes to the overall team effectiveness
  • Professional development - Maintain and develop professional knowledge in area of expertise and meets core values and behaviours of TSA.

ABOUT YOU:

  • You have a desire to work with young people and help them realise their potential
  • You have experience teaching hip-hop dance classes to young people aged 12-18
  • Ideally you have formal qualifications in dance or creative arts but this is not essential
  • You are a strong communicator and are confident to manage large groups of students
  • You are organised and efficient, able to work well under pressure
  • You have an understanding of, and commitment to, the mission and values of The Salvation Army
