About the role

The Community Support Worker is part of the Residential Support Team providing support to all residents of FCA and TOD. Community Support Workers will work collaboratively with other direct service staff in the Adult Service Network and other mainstream community organisations to ensure clients are provided with appropriate support in their journey out of homelessness.

This position is a 12-month maximum term role.

  • Clients are welcomed into a community of support characterised by genuine acceptance, compassion and care.
  • Services are accessible, participant focused and culturally sensitive to diverse client and community needs.
  • Support residents to ensure their basic needs are met and rights upheld.
  • Residents are supported to access the full range of services available within Flagstaff Crisis Accommodation and or the Open Door.
  • Principles of client-centred support, strengths-based and trauma-informed practice and community engagement are demonstrated in the service.
  • Community Support workers are part of a multi-disciplinary team including Community Development Coordinator, JSAT Worker, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, Intake work and Peer Support specialist, delivering a range of shared tasks and process.
  • Individual supports alongside group recreational and health and wellbeing activities are provided to clients across the facilities.
  • Welcoming and supportive partnerships with visiting and community-based services are developed and maintained.
  • Works collaboratively with the after-hours support workers, casework team, specialist services and co-located external providers, building a supportive and engaging community environment.
  • Appropriate records of attendance and outcomes are recorded.
  • Participates in planning and review processes with residents, community development and casework after-hours support teams resulting in relevance of activities to client needs, interests & capacities.
  • Risks to clients, staff and TSA are identified and bought to the attention of Community Development Coordinator with incidents managed in accordance with TSA / Government processes.
  • Attend staff meetings and supervision as required.
  • Contribute to the overall functioning of the facility by taking part in a range of rostered and other unscheduled activities.
