As the Community Engagement Team Leader: Homelessness Melbourne Metro Residential Services You will assist in providing direction and exercise Team Leader responsibility for the Community Engagement team based at our Residential Services in North and West Melbourne.

The Program provides a range of Community Development Programs and activities aimed at encouraging and supporting people experiencing homelessness to build capacity and reach their full individual potential. This is achieved through the provision of planned recreational and therapeutic activities, vocational support and client participation.

The program works across both Flagstaff and The Open-Door residential services, which provide short term accommodation and support to single men aged over 18 years experiencing primary homelessness.

The role:

Reporting to the Residential Services Manager you will establish and develop a culture of service delivery that is person centred, strengths based, and trauma informed.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Promote a culture where all Community Engagement staff, foster and focus opportunities for innovative and flexible responses to identified resident need, developing services which contribute to building and strengthening of individuals and local communities
  • A range of supports, designed to strengthen capacity for meaningful engagement and social cooperation within the residential communities are provided & maintained through a multi-disciplinary team approach including community support staff, JSAT worker, therapeutic recreation and peer support specialist (once role established)
  • Services are accessible and culturally sensitive to diverse client and community groups
  • Client pathways to other Salvation Army Services programs are established and fostered
  • Positive relationships with stakeholders including the local community and health providers are established and maintained
  • Staff providing services are appropriately supervised, supported, provided with a safe work environment, and given the opportunity for reflective practice, professional development and debriefing
  • All programs are compliant with appropriate accreditation & legislative requirements as determined by funding bodies

This position is full time, 38 hours per week and a contract position. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Social stream, Level 6.
