  • To prepare and serve nutritious, flavoursome meals for Community Centre participants at 
    all times adhering to established hygiene regulations
  • To undertake food and menu planning, preparation and service
  • To maintain kitchen in compliance with Local Government & Victoria Health Regulations
  • To supervise volunteers in the performance of their duties

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position currently requires that lunch is delivered to between 40 and 50 Community Program Members 3 days a week.

The position supervises  2-4 volunteers at any time working in the kitchen

The position orders and maintains good relationships with external food suppliers, using organisational skills to project requirements so that orders are received in a timely manner. 

The Salvation Army Brunswick Corps and Community Programs is seeking applications for a suitably qualified and experienced Community Centre Cook - Part Time: 15 hours per week (Monday, Wednesday & Friday).

The Salvation Army Brunswick has been engaged with the local community since its establishment in 1883, providing practical, social and spiritual support and assistance.  We currently have a team of professional staff are from a variety of disciplines providing a suite of diverse, complimentary programs that are available to all people without discrimination. 

This position is a part time position based at our Community Centre at Albert Street, Brunswick, involving:

  • Food menu planning, preparation and service
  • Ordering and storage of foods
  • Maintaining cleanliness of food preparation and storage areas
  • Maintaining kitchen in compliance with Local Government and Victorian Health Regulations
  • Supervision of volunteers in performance of tasks
  • Occupational Health & Safety Risk Management
  • Continuous Quality Improvement

The successful application for this role will need:

  • Food Safety Supervisors Certificate
  • Experience in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Sound knowledge of Health Regulations
  • Assertive and respectful communication
  • Good time management
  • Works co-operatively
  • Is trustworthy and reliable
  • Needs minimal direct supervision
  • Reflects the mission and values of The Salvation Army
