Access Health aims to provide a non-judgmental, responsive and comprehensive Primary Health Care Service responding to the diverse health and other needs of people experiencing disadvantage related to (but not limited to) homelessness, drug use, sex work, mental health and forensic history.

Located in St Kilda, Victoria the Access Health hub offers a range of services such as harm reduction, addiction medicine, mental health, sexual health, general health, counselling, groups, outreach and health promotion. Services are provided via partnership with numerous partner organisations. We recognise the immense resilience, strength and abilities of all individuals and seek to harness this for the achievement of positive outcomes.

Access Health are seeking a full time Client Services Coordinator to join a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team of social work, AOD, mental health and health practitioners. This position is a part time (30.4 hours p/week) fixed term 12 month contract.

This role will form part of the Access Health Specialist AOD and Harm Reduction Primary Health Care team, providing leadership support and oversight to a range of client facing services and programs. This includes Harm Reduction services, health services, case management and outreach.

The preferred candidate will possess high level communication and organisational skills, be self-motivated and eager to achieve best practice outcomes. They will have a keen eye for opportunity and be driven to develop and implement new approaches, programs and systems. They will contribute to a team environment that is supportive, collaborative and ambitious.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Appropriate qualifications in Social Work (bachelors or master's degree), Nursing or similar field and a focus on human rights approaches to practice
  • Experience working with diverse groups and cultures, including people who inject drugs and people experiencing homelessness
  • Knowledge and understanding of homelessness, housing, and health sectors (including mental health and primary health)
  • Knowledge of harm reduction and AOD service system and processes
  • Experience working in a leadership role within the Primary Health Care, Homelessness and/or Harm Reduction Health Care context
  • Experience leading a multidisciplinary team within a high volume & dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated leadership capacity
  • Experience implementing and/or overseeing program activities including data, reporting and systems
  • Relevant experience working in the Primary Health Care and/or Harm Reduction Sector
  • A satisfactory National Police Check
  • A satisfactory International Police Check (if you have resided outside of Australia within the last 5 years)
  • A current Employee Working with Children's Check (WWCC) or state equivalent
  • Knowledge of harm reduction and AOD service system and processes

Key Selection Criteria:

A thorough understanding of:

  • The principles of Primary Health Care and the Social Model of Health and experience in their application of provision of care to vulnerable people
  • Harm Reduction as it pertains to drug use including experience in the delivery of harm reduction initiatives and services
  • Trauma informed practice
  • Demonstrated capabilities in coordination of services included administration, communication, partnership and leadership skills
  • Motivation to innovate and proactively seek to understand service gaps/opportunities and enhance services to meet the needs of the client group
  • Highly developed self-care and an ability to work in a high volume, dynamic environment
