The Salvation Army Australia's Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children's and parenting services, counselling, support, men's programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Children's Specialist. This position is responsible for the coordination of a high quality, integrated assessment and response program for children and young people within the TSA Northwest Family Violence Services.

You will successfully

  • Coordinate the delivery of specialist high quality child focussed interventions and group work to infants, children and their mothers accessing specialist family violence case management or refuge services
  • Provide specialist child-focussed education and authoritative direction to staff to ensure child focussed practice is performed to meet the needs of infants, children and their mothers accessing family violence services
  • Provide specialist support to children 0-18 and mothers who have experienced family violence
  • Ensure that the family violence services address the unique risks posed by FV to children
  • Ensure that family violence services seek to enhance child well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and external service providers to provide an integrated continuum of support to children

This is a permanent full-time position located at Coburg Family Violence Services.

You will have

  • A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent formal learning*
  • Be a member and registered with a relevant accredited peak body (AASW, APS, ACA etc)
  • Experience in service delivery with children and families who have experienced trauma
  • Experience with women and children who have experienced family violence.
  • Strong history of working with children and families from diverse backgrounds and with a complex range of support needs.
  • A current VIC Drivers Licence
  • Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
  • Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia

MINIMUM MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
