Oasis Youth Services is based in the Hunter region of NSW, delivering a range of programs and services for young people aged 12-25 to support their journey to independence. Key program areas for Oasis include drug and alcohol support, vocational training, school programs and driver training. ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are currently seeking an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander identified case worker to work within our youth services team. This multi-disciplinary team provide a range of support to young people and their families who are affected by drug and/or alcohol use.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Engage young people aged 12-25 in drug and alcohol focused case management support, including assessment, case planning, facilitating drug and alcohol education, advocacy, and external referrals
  • Provide family support sessions to a young person's family who may be impacted by drug and alcohol use
  • Provide culturally appropriate support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to increase connection to community, Country and culture
  • Provide services and support to young people in a way that is aligned to The Salvation Army's mission & values and the National Model of Care for Youth Services

This position is based in Hamilton, NSW and involves some travel within the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter region.

The role is graded as SCHADS level 4 and salary range is $72,361 - $77,858 plus salary packaging options.

ABOUT YOU:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage
  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and mission of The Salvation Army
  • Tertiary qualifications in AOD, youth work or a related discipline
  • Experience working with people experiencing drug and alcohol issues
  • Experience working with young people with complex needs
