Pathways Maroubra is an out-client alcohol and other drug (AOD) support service, targeted at:

  • Drug and alcohol education
  • Relapse prevention and management
  • Strategies around harm reduction

We are looking for an experienced AOD Case Worker to join our small friendly team based in Maroubra, and provide the following services to people within the Central and Eastern Sydney region:

  • Assessment and referral
  • Therapeutic and psychoeducation groups
  • One to one case management
  • Advocacy into inpatient detoxification and rehabilitation facilities

Continuation of the role after 30 June 2021 is dependent on funding. (Pay is at SCHADS Level 4.)

The following are essential requirements of the role:

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote and support the values and ethos of The Salvation Army
  • Minimum of Diploma level qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g., AOD, Community Services, Counselling)
  • Experience working within the AOD and the primary health care sectors
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with unpredictable situations and behaviour, and problems associated with substance abuse and psychiatric conditions
  • Experience in the implementation of case management for disadvantaged and/or complex needs participants
  • Experience working with people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Experience working in collaboration with other organisations to develop and tailor programs to meet participants' needs
  • An understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing AOD problems and mental health conditions
