THE ROLE

We are seeking a values-driven and motivated Administration Officer to ensure The Salvation Army's Asylum Seeker & Refugee Service is welcoming, runs efficiently and is a professional Service for clients & visitors.

Responsibilities include:

  • Front Desk Reception
  • Client Service
  • Client Files & SAMIS Data Entry
  • Office Administration System

Reporting to the Program Manager, this position is located in Brunswick.

HOURS AND SALARY

This is a permanent part time time position, 21 hours per week.

Salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010, Crisis Accommodation, Level 2.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with asylum seekers and refugees.
  • Social or Community Services qualification or equivalent demonstrated experience in Emergency Relief Administration.
  • Ability to understand and engage with people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
  • Demonstrated knowledge of asylum seeker & refugee sector including context, principles, policies, regulations and Identification
  • Demonstrated awareness of issues experienced by persons experiencing financial hardship or crisis
  • Ability to support the delivery of emergency relief, material aid, information and referral in line with client needs and available resources to people seeking asylum
  • Conveys information effectively - verbally and in writing
