Trust for Nature is a not-for-profit organisation that works collaboratively to protect nature on private land forever. We have protected more than 100,000 ha across both covenants and our 44 conservation reserves. We also operate a Revolving Fund program to purchase conservation properties.

About the opportunity

The position of Human Resources Business Partner, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer is the only HR resource within TfN, comprising approximately 45 full-time equivalent employees based both within the Melbourne office and throughout rural and regional Victoria. The HR Business Partner will be responsible for managing and maintaining high-level HR services which contribute to maximising the performance and ongoing development of staff to enhance organisational effectiveness, and will also undertake all HR administrative services.

The role of HR Business Partner comprises of the entire spectrum of HR advice and support to the CEO and COO. It partners with executive team members, line managers and general staff in the areas of: recruitment and selection, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, job evaluation and analysis, grievance and issue resolution and workforce analysis. The role manages the implementation, management and monitoring of the volunteer program.

Knowledge and experience

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in human resources, organisational psychology or related discipline and previous experience as an HR Business Partner or equivalent role
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of the broad range of HR functions including HR policy and program development and management, recruitment, classification, employee relations/grievance resolution, remuneration, performance management, training and development
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the application of relevant legislative and industrial provisions and developments in human resources, including provision of advice to senior management on complex HR issues
  • An understanding of the public sector setting together with the arrangements applicable to the Victorian Public Sector
  • Well-developed knowledge and expertise in the application and management of HR processes and procedures necessary to support organisational improvement

A National Police Check is required to be conducted as part of the selection process.

A base salary of $86,809 p.a.(FTE) is offered, plus 9.5% superannuation.
