Trees For Life

About the role

'Communities helping Cockies: Improving the trajectory of the nationally endangered South-eastern Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo’ (SERTBC) is a project of Natural Resources South East in partnership with Trees For Life, Birdlife Australia and Zoos SA.

Responsible for implementing Trees For Life’s on-ground habitat restoration and community engagement milestones within the Communities helping Cockies project, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team working to improve the trajectory of this nationally threatened species.

This critical role will work to deliver project milestones on time and within budget in partnership with a wide range of public and private stakeholders, whilst complying with all policies, instructions and procedures as provided in the agreement between Trees For Life and Natural Resources South East. In addition, you will provide some operational support to TFL’s Limestone Coast Paddock Tree Project Officer.

This is a fixed term position to 30 June 2023 with a possible extension if funding permits.

Salary circa $65,000 per annum - with private use of a utility vehicle (valued at $8,000pa) + super

About you

You have significant experience working with partners and stakeholders, including private and government landholders, to deliver project outcomes.

High level project management is in your blood and you can juggle multiple tasks and competing deadlines with ease…and with only modest resources.

Working autonomously, or with minimal supervision, you are just as comfortable supervising sub-contractors and suppliers, and supporting fellow project officers, as you are recruiting and managing community volunteers.

Best practice bush regeneration and revegetation techniques are second nature to you, and you have a broad knowledge of species and ecological community recovery.

And all of this is underpinned by great communication skills, sound understanding of WHS and a current C class driver’s licence.
