NextSense (formerly Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children) are seeking experienced and new graduate speech pathologists to join the Moonee Ponds team, delivering world-class education, cochlear implant, allied health, therapy, research and clinical services to children, adults, and their families.

The Organisation

NextSense is a not-for-profit and registered NDIS provider that provides dedicated, innovative, and customised services aimed at breaking down barriers for children, adults, and families of people with hearing loss and vision loss (hearing loss only in Victoria). NextSense has been operating since 1860, formerly Taralye, Royal Institute for the Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) and Early Education Program (EEP).

The role

In this role, you will:

  • Work with clients that are deaf or hard of hearing. Work across the lifespan with a focus on paediatric and school aged clients.
  • Provide clinical service including individual sessions, group sessions and assessments that focus on achieving speech.
  • Provide capacity building and coaching to families of children who are deaf or heard of hearing.
  • Assist with initiatives to develop quality services that reach more people with hearing loss.
  • Focus on audible communication. Auslan is not used in this program, but clients may be learning this outside of the program.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive care plans for clients.
  • Mix of settings - In-clinic, school, and home visits.
  • Moonee Ponds location - servicing the west and north suburbs.

Skills and Experience

To be eligible to apply you would require:

  • Tertiary qualification in speech pathology.
  • Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia (or eligible).
  • Driver's licence.
  • Working with children check (or ability to obtain).
  • NDIS worker screening (or ability to obtain).
  • Demonstrated speech pathology experience in a range of settings - open to transferable experience.
  • New Graduates encouraged to apply - new graduate program available.
