Excellent opportunities are currently available for experienced Social Workers across Melbourne with experience working with indigenous communities. These roles are based on site at our client's office in Melbourne's North Eastern suburbs, and involves face-to-face work with clients.

You do not need to identify as indigenous to apply for these positions.

The First Nations Social Worker position will be providing community-based social work, using a culturally safe person-centred approach to provide assessment and support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community who access support through the Aboriginal Health Programs.

The Social Worker role will include:

• Delivering social work services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to support the achievements of the Aboriginal Health Programs.
• Ensuring services are delivered in a culturally sensitive manner and contribute to building the organisation's cultural safety.
• Engaging with and assessing clients and responding to health and welfare issues that are presented, providing appropriate short to medium case work support.
• Supporting vulnerable or at-risk clients to navigate health and welfare systems to support their independence and empowerment.

You must have:

• An understanding and commitment to the Social Model of Health particularly in relation to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work and significant experience working with clients and complex issues including AOD and family violence.
• Experience in providing counselling to individuals/families/carers/young people for a broad range of presenting issues.
• At least 2 years' experience in working in First Nations communities.

You will also be willing to undergo police and Working with Children Checks, as well as providing 2 recent managerial references.
