Baptcare is a purpose driven and faith based organisation working across Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia, providing residential and community care for older people and support to children, families, and people with disability, financially disadvantaged people and people seeking asylum.

The Project Worker - Quality Systems and Practice Frameworks (FACS VIC) leads the planning, consultation and development of safety improvements and the implementation of the changes across FACS services to embed the knowledge and systems to ensure Baptcare as a child safe, culturally competent and inclusive organisation.

Baptcare aims to demonstrate we are a safe and inclusive service for diverse groups of people. For the purpose of this project specifically, these groups are namely:

  • Children and Young People
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders*
  • LGBTIQ+ people

The aim of the role is to develop and implement the following key frameworks in FACS:

  • Review and self-assess against the Child Safe Standards; lead how FACS is positioned against these standards.
  • Develop and implement a Child Safe Standards Action Plan to embed all requirements of the standards in FACS.
  • Develop and implement an LGBTIQ+ Cultural Safety Action Plan (based on Rainbow Tick How2 program outcomes and learnings).
  • Rainbow Tick accreditation preparation; lead the end-to-end process of becoming accredited.
  • Review Baptcare’s Reconciliation Action Plan, requiring multiple state collaboration and community consultation.
  • Implementation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Safety Framework in FACS programs and workplaces.
  • Development and implementation of the Aboriginal Cultural Safety Action Plan, as per above.

The role is initially intended for a period of 12-months with the option to extend dependent on funding.

The role reports directly to the Lead Investigations, Quality and Incident Manager and indirectly to the FACS VIC Operations Manager. Family and Community Services programs operate across Victoria and Tasmania and are funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, Victoria and/or Communities Tasmania.

Required knowledge and experience:

  • High level of understanding of child safe standards and cultural safety issues.
  • Knowledge of information sharing in the context of family violence provisions and the child information sharing scheme.
  • Capacity to analyse complex issues, including the impact of violence and trauma, intergenerational issues and the impacts of colonisation, safety and risk, historical and contemporary discrimination.
  • Demonstrated level of self-awareness and resilience and the ability to manage multiple demands and prioritise accordingly.
  • Knowledge of relevant risk and needs assessment frameworks.
  • Demonstrated willingness to participate in professional development.

This position is paid at SCHADS 6.1
