We are currently recruiting for an experienced Family Services Practitioner, located in Sunshine, with the ability to empower children, young people and families to learn and thrive.

The program provides intensive in home family preservation services to work alongside families to address identified protective concerns and to enhance family functioning and parent capacity. The aim of the program is to prevent the children and young people entering out of home care, while ensuring their safety and wellbeing.

You will:

• Provide an intensive outreach service to the families
• Maintain up-to-date case notes and client files for each family
• Undertake holistic, systematic assessments to identify needs, strengths, and risks in families and individuals
• Prepare comprehensive written reports for each family
• Recommend to complete referrals to appropriate community services
• Attend court and provide evidence for clients

You must have:

• A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Family Therapy, Youth or Early Childhood Development and/or related behavioural sciences
• At least three years’ experience
• Experience of a range of relevant intervention strategies and frameworks including children’s development needs, child abuse and neglect, parent skill development, strengths based and solution focused approach and relevant frameworks
• Experience with working with disempowered and vulnerable families
• Experience and understanding of the issues involved in case work with children, young people and families from culturally diverse background and Aboriginal families
