The Police Association Victoria (TPAV) is the professional and industrial organisation representing and advancing the industrial, legal and welfare interests of more than 18,500 sworn Police Officers, Protective Service Officers.

We have an opportunity for an experienced and professional Industrial Officer or Employment Lawyer to join the TPAV team.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Police Association Victoria is a strong and influential union representing the policing profession. Whether it’s negotiating or campaigning for better pay and conditions; or providing members with employment related advocacy and advice, our industrial relations team is looking after our members while they are looking after us!

Our Industrial Officers provide advice, and support for individual members and member collectives during enterprise bargaining, workplace negotiations and during dispute resolution. Industrial Officers need to be able to think on their feet, advocate strongly while representing members in a range of employment and administrative tribunals.

We are seeking applications from exceptional candidates for the full-time, ongoing role of Industrial Officer.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be skilled in developing and maintaining collaborative and productive relationships with a range of stakeholders, be a team player with a strong commitment to achieve fair outcomes for Police and PSO’.

Applicants should have experience in industrial relations, human resources or a good working knowledge of relevant employment law with the capacity to communicate and negotiate effectively.

THE DUTIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

  • Provide advice to and represent TPAV members on employment entitlements, workers compensation, discrimination issues, individual employment grievances and occupational health and safety matters
  • Advocacy before industrial tribunals and negotiation with all levels of Victoria Police management
  • Knowledge and ability to interpret relevant legislation and industrial instruments
  • Represent TPAV in various forums

A commitment to trade union principles, is essential.

Applicants should have relevant experience and a tertiary qualification in industrial relations, law or other relevant fields will be highly regarded.

Salary package of circa $150,000 per annum with 13 RDO's, workplace flexibility and other generous employment conditions in accordance with the TPAV Enterprise Agreement 2020.
