Toolangi Elite produces generation zero high health seed potatoes (minitubers). The management of the high health status of seed potatoes is vital as many potato diseases are systemic in potato plants and can be carried in or on the surface of seed tubers, hence these diseases can be multiplied when planted. Seed potato certification has a substantial role in the biosecurity of the potato industry; furthermore, reducing disease prevalence has flow on effects to the reduced use of chemicals in the environment.

Toolangi Elite is committed to sustainability and is in the final stages of developing an independently audited Environmental Management System to underpin the processes and procedures and further strengthen Toolangi Elite’s environmental credentials. Toolangi Elite also applied for the Premier's sustainability awards.

There is a full-time position currently available in a high-health biosecurity potato minutuber production facility at Toolangi. A 6-month probation will be included as part of the employment contract.

On job training will be provided, and opportunities for ongoing career development.

APPLICANTS MUST HAVE:

• Current drivers license and own transport
• Forklift license is desirable
• Ability to work under instruction and with initiative
• Ability to work in a team, as well as ability to work autonomously
• Good communication skills
• Ability to use a computer
• Organised with a high attention to detail
• Physically fit and have the ability to work outdoors
• Plant and disease identification or nursery experience is desirable but not essential

• Coordination of daily crop husbandry and associated workflow
• Driving of forklift and tractor
• Planting plants
• Use of potting machine and associated equipment
• Harvesting, grading and counting of minitubers using dedicated equipment
• OHS and scheduling equipment maintenance
