Our client works across the project spectrum, from policy and planning through to design and implementation.

The role

Reporting into the Regional Manager, the Waterway Engineer will work closely with Alluvium’s engineers, geomorphologists and planners to plan, design and implement stream and gully remediation works linked to improving the water quality of the Great Barrier Reef. Based in Brisbane, this role will work on projects primarily within Queensland, however, also likely to work on projects in other geographic locations across eastern Australia and overseas.

Other key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing projects and programs and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders
  • Applying engineering principles in relevant waterway, river and catchment scenarios and at various landscape scales
  • Interpretation of scientific and engineering information, to assist in providing technical oversight and project management where appropriate

About you

You are an experienced Engineer who is passionate about working on rivers, catchments and coastal systems within the natural resource management and resource/mining sectors. You have appreciation of how the management of our waterways and catchments can be improved and how you would like to contribute to this.

Ideally, you will possess:

  • A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Proficiency and experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling of both natural and engineered waterways
  • Experience with the use of design and modelling packages such as 12d, RORB, HEC- RAS, AutoCAD and GIS capabilities
  • Experience working within a team to achieve desired outcomes and an ability to work autonomously when required
  • A high level of written and verbal communication skills
