The Role

The Sustainability Manager Residential, directly reports to the National Residential Sustainability Manager and plays a key role in interfacing with the wider Residential business at a Residential project level. Sitting within the Residential Business Operations team this role is responsible for driving strategic outcomes and business improvements across the Residential business projects whilst ensuring governance and efficiency.

The preferred location is Sydney however Brisbane or Melbourne locations may also be considered.

Key responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Help to build and maintain a culture of sustainability throughout Residential business.
  • Develop and manage trusting relationships with all levels of internal stakeholders.

Management:

  • Develop a range of standardised processes and tools to support project teams with key sustainability initiatives.
  • Support project teams in their pursuit of external funding and partnership opportunities to deliver sustainable business initiatives.
  • Deliver a customer-focused document to provide sustainability education for customers that fosters greater adoption of sustainability initiatives.
  • Build awareness and generate buy-in and enthusiasm within the company.

Technical:

  • Support project teams to achieve compliance with Residential sustainability standards and innovation at a project level to drive achievement of the Residential Sustainability scorecard.
  • Provide practical and project specific advice to Residential Development teams on how to best incorporate a range of environmental and social sustainability opportunities.
  • Communicate and share project learnings and knowledge between project teams and across various states.
  • Develop and drive a communication strategy with Sales and Marketing that articulates the value of sustainability to customers and helps to differentiate Mirvac products.
  • Measure, monitor and report, on the effectiveness of sustainability initiatives and compliance with Residential standards and scorecards.
  • Work with project teams to identify, implement and monitor initiatives to halve construction waste.
  • Work with project teams to identify, implement and monitor initiatives to halve construction waste.
  • Provide expert advice for the preparation of sustainability content and strategies for new Business projects and Bids.
  • Participate in project visioning workshops to ensure sustainability outcomes across customer, local community and environmental are considered in achieving project objectives.
  • Maintain an understanding of relevant residential sustainability standards and ratings tools.

About you

Self-described as an ambitious and dynamic sustainability professional, you will bring a high degree of passion, new thinking and pragmatism to the high performing culture and sustainability teams of Mirvac.

You will bring proven experience as a strategic and tactical sustainability professional, with an ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders across the business. Preferably, you will have previous project management experience along with property sector experience, ideally within the residential space or bring experience from an ASX listed company with operational complexity on a national or global scale.

Desired Experience Includes

  • 7+ years proven experience in the sustainability sector – property development experience highly regarded.
  • Technical expertise in environmental and sustainable design principles.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant residential sustainability standards and ratings tools, including but not limited to; BASIX, NatHERs, BESS, Green Star, OPL.
  • Solid sustainability industry knowledge and experience, preferably in the residential development space.
  • Experience influencing project outcomes to drive adoption of sustainability initiatives at a project level.
  • Design and delivery of effective sustainability strategies and innovation.
  • Ability to influence across a wide range of levels of management and other stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation and influencing skills.
  • Good project and stakeholder management skills, including ability to be highly organised and progress multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to develop and manage trusting relationships with all levels of stakeholders internally and externally.
  • Ability to develop structured frameworks and tools that balance efficiency and governance at an operational level.
  • Courage to challenge the status quo while maintaining relationships.
