The role

As the Sustainability Manager reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer ANZ your role is to provide knowledge, expertise and leadership to ensure that Nando’s ANZ, is driven towards being a market leader in its corporate social responsibilities, by setting and achieving quantifiable improvements in environmental sustainability and animal welfare.

This includes coordinating Nando’s overall sustainability and social responsibility agenda, representing Nando’s internally and externally and managing the relationships with external parties and consultants. You will also act as an ongoing support to the Leadership team in the development and implementation of the wider Nando’s ANZ strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing insights and global thought leadership into leading edge sustainability and social responsibility opportunities to inform the development of the wider Nando’s strategy
  • Collaboration with sustainability workgroups and the sustainability SteerCo to deliver specific initiatives by providing subject matter expertise, industry insights along with a continuous improvement lens
  • Inspiring a collaborative sustainability culture through on ground relationships with teams across Nando's restaurants and all business divisions
  • Continually developing and communicating the sustainability strategy
  • Development of a comprehensive annual action plan, including measurable targets
  • Reporting on Nando’s performance, and collaborating with the internal communication team to create meaningful news for all Nandocas
  • Ownership of content for the sustainability sections of PERi-Central and other relevant communication channels
  • Reductions in the key impact areas of energy, waste and supply chain
  • Assisting other Nando’s markets in the implementation of sustainability initiatives in their businesses

About you

You are known for creating an environment of collaboration and excitement for sustainability across an organisation. Your influencing and people leadership skills enable you to evolve sustainability strategies in a manner that stakeholders actively seek you out to assist with embedding sustainability into their operations.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Minimum 5 years CSR/Sustainability experience
  • Qualifications in environmental sustainability and/or social responsibility preferred
  • Food production experience is highly desirable as is experience in Animal Welfare, The Modern Slavery Act, Packaging and Food Waste
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and build productive working relationships at all levels
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Experience working collaboratively on a cross-functional basis
