The role

Reporting to the CEO and joining the senior leadership team (SLT), the International Programs and Partnerships Director will maintain strong relationships with key staff within OG Australia and Sierra Leone, as well as develop and maintain sustainable partnerships with key stakeholders globally.

The primary responsibility for this role is to lead the planning, design, development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of One Girl’s International Programs, as well as, identify and manage key program partnerships. The Director provides strategic thinking on programming and the development of innovations that enable the delivery of quality programs through partnership strategy in line with One Girl’s overall strategy.

This role is critical to the success of One Girl’s advocacy by ensuring that the voices of girls and young women are amplified.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead on gender mainstreaming within programs, across the organisation, and in OG’s engagement with partners and key stakeholders;
  • Lead and manage the OG programs team by providing direction, guidance, and staff development through coaching and mentoring of the programs team; including oversight of the OG program approach
  • Oversee quality assurance of program implementation, ensuring programs are implemented according to requirements agreed in the program proposal and within approved budget
  • Management of the Africa Regional Director in Sierra Leone and program staff in Melbourne.
  • Ensuring OG monitoring and evaluation frameworks are in place for all programs and are being implemented in line with values and principles, and ensure that key learnings are applied to inform their work
  • Working closely with the Fundraising and Communications Directors, including communicating OG (and partner) impact with supporters and identifying new program grants.

Ideally, you will possess:

  • Strong understanding of gender equality and women’s rights issues in the international context (Africa and/or Asia-Pacific regions preferred)
  • 5+ years demonstrated experience developing and leading successful program strategies (preferably with partnerships-focus)
  • Experience building, leading, or managing successful long-term partnerships (networks, alliances, or coalitions) working with diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strong understanding of program and partnership cycles in the international development sector
  • A tertiary degree in international development or a related field. In the absence of a degree, extensive professional experience and proven results in those areas is required.
  • Accredited Partnerships Broker qualifications preferred (or an interest in obtaining)
  • Experience managing staff from a range of backgrounds and contexts within the NFP sector with an ability to inspire, grow and lead a team.
