This position will work under the direction of BREAZE Inc. and supervision of the Project Manager. While BREAZE Inc. is primarily located in Ballarat, flexible work and travel arrangements can be negotiated with the successful applicant.

The Community Power Hub program is being delivered by Sustainability Victoria with the objectives of reducing carbon emissions and energy costs, as well as bolstering local support and understanding of renewable energy across Victoria.

In this role you will:

As a communications professional, in collaboration with a small, committed team, use your wide-ranging content production skills and familiarity with a diversity of platforms to shape and amplify the message of the Grampians Community Power Hub. Follow your interest in social change to work closely with communities, technical experts, Councils, industry and other stakeholders. Work collaboratively in a small, interdependent team to ensure that a pipeline of community energy projects is secured for the region.

This position will suit someone who is committed to environmental sustainability, keen to connect with communities across the Region, and willing and able to apply their communication and administrative skills in a flexible working environment.

The key deliverables of the position are to:

  • Work with the project team and communities across the region to develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement plan for the project.
  • Create quality cross-media communications content that reflects the objectives of the Community Power Hub and informs the wider community about the need to reduce our carbon footprint and the renewable energy options that could apply to them.
  • Provide administrative support to the project as a whole and to the Project Manager. The position will be the primary user of the project’s online accounting software and perform the coordination and minute taking roles for the formal meetings associated with the program.
  • Assist in the preparation of progress reports for the Project Manager, the PCG, and for Sustainability Victoria.

Key Selection Criteria for the position are:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a communications role.
  • The ability to develop and use a wide range of contemporary communications technologies and techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of word processing, spreadsheets and accounting software and accurate record keeping.
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting coordination and documentation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, and experience in report writing.
  • The ability to be adaptable in the workplace, to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
  • An understanding of regional communities and an understanding and interest in the renewable energy sector
  • A current driver’s licence and access to a car is essential as occasional travel throughout the region will be required.

JOB TYPE: Part time: 0.5 FTE on 12 month contract

REMUNERATION: $66k plus 10% superannuation Pro Rata – 24 hours per week

LOCATION: Working from home in the Ballarat region or elsewhere as negotiated
