The role

GetUp is looking for a senior Business Insights/Analytics Director to join the tech team who is passionate about growing and strengthening a movement of everyday people committed to creating change on progressive issues.

Technology is core to GetUp's ability to radically redefine what is politically possible in Australia. The tech team is a dynamic, innovative, and driven group of experienced, developers and data analysts who work closely with GetUp campaigners and organisers to build innovative digital campaign strategies and tools to amplify their members' voice, time, and money – so they can’t be ignored.

This team generate ideas that push the boundaries of what the future of collective action might look like and in order to do this they need an experienced Analytics Director to align and direct the management, development, and integration of data analytics to create a more progressive Australia and help turn these ideas into reality.

In this position you will have accountability for:

  • Determining and driving an analytics and data strategy
  • Ensuring GetUp’s analytics infrastructure, practices and systems are in line with industry best practice.
  • Integrating analytics tracking and reporting systems across the organisation that ensure data-driven decision-making.
  • Identifying key metrics that drive and maintain performance.
  • Driving a whole-of-org program of testing, experimentation, evaluation and learning.
  • Ensuring useful data trends are identified and used to inform recommendations to strengthen our campaigns.
  • Proactively managing the team’s budget; and
  • Managing data staff to success, including setting and monitoring work outcomes.

About you

You will have worked in a similar position where you have made data accessible to others, have shaped a culture of data driven decisions, provided strategic and tactical advice based on data driven insights in order to achieve targeted outcomes. In the landscape of GetUp, success looks like highly effective digital campaigns representing over one million members ensuring their voices are heard, messages are heeded, and action taken.

This position will suit someone who seeks out a challenge, is as comfortable in the data analysis as they are in telling the story and influencing change. A true out of the box thinker, risk taker, and someone who enjoys solving complex and varied problems that matter. Ideally you also love collecting and analysing data, are excited to work with talented technology professionals and change-makers that care as much about making the world a better place as you do.

Ideal experience includes:

  • Experience in operationalising data analytics and drawing on data insights to help others make key decisions.
  • A deep understanding of A/B testing and highly knowledgeable in key metric identification for driving and maintaining performance.
  • Experience in the use of SQL and in enterprise data warehouse solutions, statistical analysis tools, database systems, and data visualisation applications.
  • Capable of leading on a range of varied tasks and projects, and taking the initiative doing what it takes - big or small - to get the job done.
  • An accomplished people leader who knows how to take care of their staff, and who is committed to the continuous development of yourself and your team.
  • Passionate about growing and strengthening a movement of everyday people to take action for change on a wide range of issues.
  • Experience working cross functionally across diverse business areas to deliver digital projects.
  • Comfortable querying, processing, and managing large, non-homogenous data sets and various bespoke CRMs.
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience.

The salary package for this opportunity is 139K inc of super with the below additional benefits available: 

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • 6 weeks leave per year (4 weeks annual and 2 weeks accrued over time leave)
